THE STORY

The saying goes that the world is your oyster. As a young girl this implied that there would be treasure for the taking.

Inside an oyster, pearls materialise through a process that seems akin to some form of arcane magic.

I liked the idea of these mysterious inner-workings that produced only beautiful things.

I have since learned that the pearl is a product of a protective response, where layer upon layer of fluid solidifies around a harmful substance, eventually encapsulating it inside a gem.

The oyster teaches us a great lesson. In facing our challenges with patience, over time, treasure is forged.
